Behind every successful flight is a team of professional, dedicated and cool-headed cabin and ground crew who keep the proverbial wheels turning. More than just ticket checkers and providers of in-flight meals, they are often required to play the role of organiser, mediator, comforter, security, and more. Their job not only ensures the traveller a pleasant experience, but a safe one too.

At Alt. Academy’s Cabin Crew and Ground Handling faculty, we offer a range of specially developed courses designed to produce industry-leading crew with the expertise and inter-personal skills to manage extreme situations on both short and long-haul flights. Our courses range from Cabin Crew Member-Flight Attendant Licensing to Security Awareness, and from Aviation Medicine to Airport Customer Service and Safety Officers.

We believe in the potential of our continent, which is why we embrace our ongoing mission to elevate the aviation industry into one that is respected wherever we touch down. And why our training exceeds regulatory requirements. This is made possible by our fully operational, on-site aircraft cabin that allows for regular, real-world training. Further, we are the only organisation in the country that provides actual flight experience to learners before they qualify, allowing them to observe the in-cabin environment and gain first-hand experience.

The first step is to go for a front view chest X-ray. This is to check for TB and can be done at any radiologist or clinic where they have an X-ray facility. Step 2 would be to make an appointment with an Aviation Medical Examiner. The X-ray must be taken with you to the medical examiner as it forms part of the medical certification process. A list of medical examiners will be found on the SACAA’s website i.e.
